'Modi was right': French President Macron quotes PM Modi's words at UN

NEW YORK: At the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was right about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Macron said this by quoting Modi's words to Putin ' the time is not for war'.

Modi spoke this in a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

"Today's era is not of war and I have spoken to you about it on the call. Today we will get the opportunity to talk about how we can progress on the path of peace. India and Russia have stayed together with each other for several decades.", PM Modi told Putin.

At the same time, in response to Modi's words, Putin had said that the Russia-Ukraine conflict will end as soon as possible. "I know about your position on the Ukraine conflict. I know about your concerns. We want all of this to end as soon as possible," Putin said.
