KOCHI: Union Minister of State, V Muraleedharan, took a jibe at the Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, and Rahul Gandhi in connection with the violent attacks during the hartal called by Popular Front of India (PFI) yesterday. He said the Chief Minister was enjoying himself playing drums while Kerala was burning.
V Muraleedharan added that Rahul Gandhi was sleeping in a container in Chalakudy.
The minister said that while violence was raging across the state the Chief Minister was behaving like Emperor Nero, who is said to have played the fiddle while Rome was burning. Here the CM and DGP were playing the drums in Kochi during ‘cOcOn’, the annual cyber security and hacking conference organized by Kerala Police.
Muraleedharan said that the violence in yesterday’s hartal showed that the government has given full freedom to Islamic extremists to do anything. The state has not witnessed widespread attacks like this before. All the attacks took place in front of the police and they did not do anything.
He reminded that the home ministry had given permission for a mass meeting in Kozhikode to the same people who gave hate speech in Alappuzha two weeks back. This emboldened the PFI activists to unleash violence across the state yesterday.
The Minister of State also harshly criticized Rahul Gandhi for remaining silent. He mocked that the great leader who is on a mission to unite India was sleeping in a container at Chalakudy yesterday.
He asked if Rahul Gandhi didn’t know what happened. And added why the Congress scion doesn’t speak against Islamic extremists.
