NEW DELHI: Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad announced the name of his new party. It is called ‘Democratic Azad Party'. He made the announcement at a press conference convened in Jammu along with party workers. Azad had on August 26 ended his five-decade-long association with the Congress.
He was the opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha from 2014 to 2021. He had served as a member of the Rajya Sabha five times and twice as a member of the Lok Sabha and was the chief minister of Kashmir from 2005 to 2008. In February 2022 Prime Minister Narendra Modi had lauded his work during this tenure.
