17-year-old sexually assaulted; police officer arrested in POCSO case

THRISSUR: A police officer has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl while travelling on a private bus. The arrested has been identified as Ratheesh, a native of Pullur in Thrissur. He was remanded by the court. According to the victim, Ratheesh sexually harassed her while travelling in a crowded bus. Following the incident, the girl made a fuss inside the bus and forcefully removed the mask of the accused. Soon, the fellow travellers apprehended him and took him to the police station. In the subsequent interrogation, it was revealed that the accused is a police driver.

The police then registered a case under sections of the POCSO Act and produced the accused before the Thrissur Principal POCSO Court. Ratheesh is currently on CBI deputation.
