THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will begin digital resurvey, with the help of satellite, from 1 November, on ‘Kerala Piravi’. The first phase of the resurvey will be done in 200 selected villages across 14 districts. The decision was made at the meeting of the Revenue Secretariat, conveyed by Revenue Minister, K Rajan.

Resurvey has been done in 116 villages using the Global Navigation Satellite System. The digital survey will be done on the remaining 1550 villages.

The aim is to finish the survey in all the villages in four years. The District Collectors have been assigned to do the preliminary works before 1 November. Surveyors and helpers will be appointed on a contract basis. The interview for the posts is being carried out through the employment exchange.

Once the survey mapping is over the village registration, the land survey documents will be compiled with the help of information technology and a detailed document of the land area. As the mapping of the rivers, and other water bodies including sensitive eco systems are done, the survey will be helpful for disaster management. All this is supervised by the Survey of India.

The survey will use drones, a Continuously Operating Reference Station, Round Trip Time, and Electronic Total Station. The sketch will be prepared by the signals from 28 chord stations which are linked to the satellite.
