The main aim of the government is root out the chances for using mobile phone for terror activities.
From January 1, 2023 onwards, all mobile phone manufacturers are required to register the International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI number of every handset manufactured in India with the Indian Counterfeited Device Restriction portal before the first sale of a newly launched mobile phone.
