FLORIDA: Hurricane Ian caused widespread damage in Florida as speeds of wind reached 240 kilometres per hour. Many people have gone missing. South East Florida remains in the dark as power has yet to be restored there. Many houses and vehicles were washed away as seawater rushed in. As per videos that went viral on social media, sharks can be seen swimming on roads. Ian is one of the most powerful storms recorded in the US. It became a category 4 hurricane as it entered the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Cuba.

Many boats sank in the hurricane that came with heavy rain. About 20 migrants have gone missing. The search for them is going on. It is reported that more than 18 lakh people were affected by the hurricane. The tobacco industry, a major source of income, has been severely affected by the cyclone. There is also extensive damage to plantations and houses. It will take several days for the exact damage figures to come out. Footage of a reporter falling to the ground while reporting on the hurricane has also surfaced on the internet.
