Youth jumps into river along with daughter, body recovered; search for six-year-old girl continues

ALUVA: The body of a man who jumped from the Marthanda Varma bridge in Aluva into the river along with his six-year-old daughter has been found. The deceased has been identified as Chengama ad native Laiju (36). The police and fire force are searching for the daughter Aryananda. The incident happened this morning.

Locals said that Laiju had severe financial obligations. Laiju was running a sanitary shop in a rented building at Puthuvassery. His wife Savitha has been working as a beautician in Dubai for about five years. Laiju's elder son Advaith is studying in Class 5 at Vidyadhiraja Vidya Bhavan, Aluva.

Savitha had told Laiju that she will come back next month to celebrate their son's birthday. However, she returned home by today afternoon as her mother's health deteriorated. Laiju jumped into the river with his daughter in the meantime.
