First arrest in the Kattakada assault case; security employee was arrested from Thirumala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have recorded the first arrest in connection with an incident in which a Dalit man and his daughter were beaten up by KSRTC employees at the Kattakkada depot. Police have arrested security employee Suresh Kumar from Chadiyara near Thirumala. Suresh Kumar was arrested by the shadow team of Kattakkada DySP. The arrest came after the court rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by the KSRTC employees.

Earlier, the Thiruvananthapuram Additional Sessions Court had rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of KSRTC employees Suresh Kumar, Milan Dorich, N Anil Kumar, Aji Kumar and Muhammed Sherif. The court rejected the anticipatory bail application of the accused observing that the accused, who beat up a father in front of his daughter, do not deserve bail.
