'No to drugs' anti-drug campaign to begin tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 'No to Drugs' campaign launched by the government to make the state drug-free will begin tomorrow on Gandhi Jayanti. The online inauguration of the campaign by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be telecast on KITE VICTERS channel. The Chief Minister's speech will be telecast at the inaugural programs organized in all schools, main centres in wards and libraries.

Raids at state borders and patrolling at school and college bus stops will be intensified during the campaign period. Police, Excise and Forest departments will conduct joint raids on the borders. All other major departments will be part of the campaign.

Discussion and debate will be organized in school and college classrooms on October 3. The Chief Minister's speech should be played in the classrooms on that day. An awareness programme for parents led by PTA/ MPTA/ Development Committee will be held in all schools on the 6th and 7th of October. A debate and pledge will be organized under the leadership of various organizations from Oct 8 to 12. These programmes will be held in places like libraries, hostels, clubs, residence associations etc.

• Campaign focusing on Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes sanctuaries
• Special campaign from October 15th to 22nd under the leadership of the labour department and local self-government bodies.
• Campaign in the coastal area from October 16th to 24th under the leadership of the Fisheries Department.
• Kudumbashree, traders and industrialists will also participate.
• Under the leadership of scouts and guides, a cycle rally will pass through 78 educational districts from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram from October 25 to November 1.
