rss-

NEW DELHI: Following the ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the country, the Union Home Ministry has granted 'Y' category security to five RSS leaders in Kerala. The security was granted after the Central Intelligence Agency warned of a threat from PFI.

In the raid conducted by the NIA in Kerala, a list containing the names of five RSS leaders was also found from the house of PFI leader Mohammad Basheer. The Union Home Ministry also said that paramilitary commandos will also be deployed to ensure the security of RSS leaders.

According to Sections 3 and 4 of the UAPA Act, the central government has banned the PFI and its affiliated organizations for five years. The banned affiliated organizations are Rehab India Foundation (RIF), Campus Front of India (CFI), All India Imams Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO), National Women's Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and Rehab Foundation Kerala.

The Ministry of Home Affairs explained that the action was taken after finding that the activities of the organization were unlawful. Government sources also stated that PFI's links with international terrorist organizations have been confirmed. The central government order also points out that some of the founding leaders of the Popular Front were leaders of the banned organizations SIMI and Jamaat ul Mujahideen Bangladeshi (JMB).
