Huge rise in GST revenue; collects above Rs 1.4 lakh crores consecutively for 7 months

NEW DELHI: The revenue from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has again registered a huge increase. The country earned revenue of Rs.1.47 lakh crores in September from GST, which is a 25% increase. This is the seventh month when GST revenues crossed above Rs.1.4 lakh crores, consecutively.

In August, the revenue touched Rs. 1.43 lakh crores. And during September, the revenue was Rs. 1,47,686 crores, out of which the CGST amounted to Rs.25,271 crores, SGS at Rs.31,813 crores, IGST at Rs.80,464 crores, and CCST at Rs.10,137 crores.

The revenue increased by 26% when compared to last year’s revenue for the same period. The revenue generated from the import of goods rose by 39%. The revenue from domestic transactions rose by 22% compared to last year.

The second-highest one-day rise in revenue was recorded on 20 September. An amount of Rs.49,453 crores was collected on that day.

However, the revenue collected in September 2022, is less than what was collected last July, which was Rs.1.49 lakh crores. The highest-ever amount of GST revenue was collected in April 2022. Rs.1.67 trillion was collected in that month alone.
