THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The court registered a case against the police officers, including the CI, for brutally beating up an accused who had a warrant for a ruckus case. Judicial First Class Magistrate A Anisa registered the case against the former CI of the Fort station and two civil police officers. The complainant is Niyaz alias Kunjumon, a native of Karimadom Colony. The accused in the case are Sherry, who is now a CI in the Kollam Crime Branch, Sreekumar of Nemom station and Suresh of Thumba station. They have been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and issuing threats.

The incident took place on October 6, 2019. Niyaz, who was taken into custody by the police from Vanchiyoor, was brutally beaten and produced before the court. Niyaz had informed the doctor about the torture when he was taken for medical examination. He later informed the magistrate about this when he was produced in court. The court, which recorded a direct statement from Niyaz, filed the case against the policemen after examining the hospital records.
