THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan battled for almost three years with serious pancreatic cancer which would kill within months if caught. The doctor noticed cancer on a routine check-up in October 2019. He only had sugar at that time. The doctor advised a blood test. When the test results came, the disease was confirmed. He succumbed to his death on October 1 after a three-year long fight.
Despite his illness, Kodiyeri did not deviate from his daily party routines. Kodiyeri had once said, ‘What's the point of worrying about the disease, you have to fight.’ While he was under treatment, he only went to AKG Centre which is opposite to his flat.
He breathed his last at Chennai Apollo Hospital at 8 pm on Saturday night after three-year long treatment. The air ambulance carrying Kodiyeri's body left Chennai at 11.22 am. The ambulance will reach Kannur airport by 1.15 pm. CPM Kannur district secretary M V Jayarajan will receive the body at the airport.
