MUMBAI: Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian team in the ODI series against South Africa. Keralite Sanju Samson has been included in the team as a wicket-keeper batsman. Shreyas Iyer is the vice-captain. Ishan Kishan is also in the team as another wicket keeper. Due to next month's Twenty20 World Cup, senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have been rested. ODI matches are on 6th, 9th and 11th of this month.
The players for the T20 World Cup will be sent to Australia early to get a quick understanding of the conditions. The Indian team will travel to Australia on October 10. That is why captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not included in the ODI series. The team is also playing a warm-up match against Australia ahead of the World Cup.
