THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Age limit has been implemented in the CPI. C Divakaran has been omitted from the state council. His name is not in the list of state council members from Thiruvananthapuram. Though there were discussions that there would be a contest for the post of state secretary, the reports that came in said that with the intervention of the national leadership, the chances of the contest are less.
C Diwakaran and others had earlier questioned the age limit of 75. However, the guidelines regarding the age limit in the party were decided by the national council, assistant secretary K Prakash Babu had clarified earlier. He said that it was decided to implement the guidelines regarding the age limit in Kerala.
There were indications that there would be a contest for the CPI state council and the post of secretary. Divakaran faction had opposed the move of Kanam Rajendran to become secretary for the third time. The reports that came in said that a fight may be avoided following the intervention of the national leadership.
