Address and phone number of one-third of voters not available in voters’ list, Tharoor faction raises question

kk

NEW DELHI: Tharoor faction has complained that the address or phone number of one-third of the people in the voters’ list for the Congress presidential election is not available. A total of more than 9000 people are included in the Congress voters’ list. But the phone number or address of more than 3000 of them are not available. The voters’ list provided by the election committee is incomplete and this will hamper the election campaign. Around 13 PCCs in the country handed over the list by recording only the names of the representatives, which caused the issue. At present, Shashi Tharoor is getting a lot of popular support among the party workers, even if the leaders are not openly supporting him. This has surprised the central leadership and party leaders.

Booth committees 140 and 141 of Thottaykkadu in Puthupally, Kottayam which is Oommen Chandy's constituency, have sent resolutions to DCC, KPCC and AICC in favor of Tharoor. Many people are worried that the positive stance of party workers at the lower level and the youth on Tharoor's candidature and their support for him will lead to the rise of alternative voices in the party even after the presidential election. His supporters are of the view that Tharoor should become the president for the growth of Congress.

PCC gave a grand welcome to Mallikarjun Kharge who arrived in Maharashtra on Friday. Although Tharoor reached Mumbai yesterday, none of the leaders came to support him. He is going to request votes from the leaders today. Tharoor will first visit the residence of senior leader Sushilkumar Shinde. Then he will visit PCC. Tharoor responded that he has never backed down from challenges in his life.

Lok Sabha members from Kerala are also included in the list of voters whose details are not provided. The address or phone number of VK Sreekandan and Ramya Haridas is not available. The name of K Muralidharan is also mentioned as M Muralidharan in the list. Only 40 names are mentioned likewise in the list.
