KOZHIKODE: Departmental investigation has begun into the complaint that a scissor got into the stomach of a young woman, Harsheena, during a cesarean operation done five years ago at the Kozhikode Medical College. Under the orders of Health Minister, Veena George a three-member group of senior doctors is constituted to lead the investigation.

Meanwhile, criticisms arose against the Medical College Principal, Dr. EV Gopi’s response to the allegations by Harsheena. He said that what was found in her stomach was not a scissor. He also said that mistakes like these are common.

The principal also said that Harsheena had her third operation at the medical college and the scissor might have entered her stomach during the earlier two operations she had at Thamarasseri.

Harsheena said that the words of the principal pained her a lot. Her complaint was that during her operation on 30 November 2017, a scissor entered her stomach during a cesarean operation. She has been suffering from this for the last five years. It was finally removed from her stomach in an operation done on the 17th of last month.

Harsheena has complained to the Health Minister and to the Medical College Police.
