kk

NEW YORK: India voted to reject Russia’s demand for a secret ballot on a draft resolution regarding annexation of four regions of Ukraine in UN General Assembly. India voted in favor of a public vote on the issue along with 100 other countries. With this, Russia's demand was rejected. 13 countries voted in favor of Russia while 39 countries, including Iran and China, abstained from voting. Russia has filed an appeal after the request was denied.

At the same time, Russia is intensifying missile attacks on various cities in Ukraine. The missile strikes on Kyiv and other cities came shortly after Russia accused Ukraine of destroying a bridge linking Crimea with Russia. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on social media that the country was dealing with terrorists and had carried out dozens of missile attacks. Zelensky said that their target is the energy facilities and the people of the country and requested that the people to remain in shelter places. He also accused Russia of trying to wipe Ukraine off from the face of the Earth. Ukrainian media reported that several people were killed in the missile strikes. This is the first Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital after three months. The last attack took place on June 26.
