THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Commissioner, S Sreejith, said that strict actions will be taken against every vehicle, including KSRTC buses, as per the instruction of the High Court, if found to be violating traffic rules. He was speaking at the meeting of central zone officials of the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) at the CIAL Convention Center in Nedumbassery.
The Transport Commissioner made it clear that the government and MVD are working hard to prevent even a single death on the road. Within the last five days, 4472 violations were found and Rs.75,73,020 was collected as fines. The fitness certificate of 263 vehicles was canceled.
The license of 108 drivers was canceled for driving dangerously. Actions were also initiated against 19 KSRTC buses.
Those whose licenses are canceled for dangerous driving will be trained at the Drivers Training Research Institute at Edapal. Their license will be restored only after they take care of accident victims who have sustained serious injuries.
S Sreejith also demanded that the association of bus owners must also give training to their bus drivers. In addition, the inspections to check speed governors and illegal body transformation of vehicles will be made strict.
