PFI hartal: HC seeks information on confiscation of property from government

kk

KOCHI: The High Court has directed the government to file an affidavit detailing the steps taken to recover compensation for the damages caused by the Popular Front hartal from the leaders including state general secretary Abdul Sathar. The bench consisting of Justice AK Jayashankaran Nambiar, Justice CP Muhammad Niyaz has suggested to explain the steps taken to confiscate the property of PFI leaders including Abdul Sathar.

The petition was adjourned to November 8 as the government sought more time. The court had earlier directed the Popular Front to pay Rs 5.20 crore to the government and make Abdul Sathar an accused in all cases registered in connection with the hartal violence. Actions taken in this should also be reported to the court.
