THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain with thunder and lightning continues in the state. Yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad. More rain is likely over hilly areas. Heavy rainfall leads to waterlogging in the capital city.
The Central Meteorological Department informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Idukki districts and light rain in other districts in the next three hours. It has been raining heavily in Thiruvananthapuram since last night. Roads are waterlogged.
Traffic was completely blocked on the Thiruvananthapuram-Chenkota National Highway. Mud caved in on Chullimanoor-Vanchuvath road. Efforts to remove the mud with JCB continues.
The Meteorological Centre has warned that rain will continue in the coming days. Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode tomorrow and Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur on Thursday.
