Pakistan threatens to pull out of World Cup after Jay Shah announces Asia Cup at neutral venue

cricket

ISLAMABAD: After BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that the Indian team will not go to Pakistan to participate in the Asia Cup cricket tournament in 2023, Pakistan has threatened to pull out of the ODI World Cup 2023 in India if the Asia Cup venue is changed. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Jay Shah had indicated the other day that the Asia Cup match will be held at a neutral venue which has irked Pakistan.

The news agency reported quoting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources that they are ready to take tough decisions. It is also indicated that PCB Chairman Rameez Raja has decided to send a letter to ICC protesting against the change of the Asia Cup venue. But the PCB has not yet officially responded on the issue. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has not responded to the issue. It is suggested that the PCB may raise the issue at the ICC board meeting to be held in Melbourne next month.

A cold war is going on between the two cricket boards before the India-Pakistan match in the Twenty20 World Cup on October 23. Pakistan beat India in the last year's T20 World Cup in UAE. The ODI World Cup to be held in India next year and the Asia Cup tournament to be held in Pakistan have become uncertain after the dispute between the two boards.
