KOTTAYAM: PWD and Tourism Minister, PA Muhammed Riyas, said that the maintenance work of sixteen roads used by Sabarimala pilgrims has been completed and made perfect. The minister was speaking after inspecting the condition of the Mundakayam-Erumeli road, and Ponkunnam roads and bridges before the start of the pilgrimage.
The Minister said that the maintenance work of three more roads will be completed on time. The roads in the Kottayam district used by Sabarimala pilgrims are of excellent quality. The construction of Plappilly road has begun and will be completed by 10 November.
Muhammed Riyas added that the two-day inspection of the roads by his team was effective. The team consisted of MLAs, District Collector, and PWD officials. The minister said that on 23 September nineteen roads were identified and its condition inspected. Following it, instructions were given to complete the maintenance works in a time-bound manner.
The Minister and his team visited the Kanamala Bridge, the Kanamala-Mukenpeti-Koruthodu-causeway bridge-Mundakayam road, the Ponkunnam-Punalur road, and the Ponkunnam-Erumeli road.
The Minister was accompanied by Government Chief Whip, Dr. N Jayaraj, MLAs, Adv. Sebastian Kulathunkal, KU Jenish Kumar, District Collector, PK Jayasree, etc.
