Kerala has best police force in country, says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, has said that the Kerala police is the best police force in the country. The police force in Kerala is doing the best policing duties in the country. He also said that this was possible because of the LDF government’s policy of making the police force more people-oriented and different.

However, he said that the government would not accept the tendency of some to overthrow this achievement and would not allow those in the force, who indulge in wrong actions.

The Chief Minister pointed out that in the last six years under the LDF government, criminal cases have gone down. The law and order in the state are efficient due to the intervention of the government.

The police were able to deal with communal polarization by holding on to secularism. During calamities, the police provided good service by joining hands with the people. When there is a big list of police achievements, it is a serious concern that some incidents occur that diminish the popularity of the police force. No mercy will be shown to them.

The CM warned that such people would not have any place in the force. Maximum action will be taken against erring officers. Strong actions will be taken against those who lower the image of the police in the midst of the people.

Pinarayi Vijayan said that the police force must have a face and character of pro-people. He said that labeling the police for a few isolated incidents cannot be accepted. The government will not support those who indulge in activities that directly or indirectly affect the image of the police.

The Chief Minister’s statement comes at a time when the police force is being accused in several cases, including the brutal assault of a soldier and his brother at Kilikollur and slapping fake drug cases against them. Interestingly, the CM handles the home portfolio also.
