kk

LONDON: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has reshuffled the cabinet after assuming office. It is reported that Rishi Sunak has asked for the resignation of four ministers in the Liz Truss cabinet as part of the tough measures ahead of the announcement of the new cabinet. Following this, the media reported that three ministers have submitted their resignations.

As per reports, Sunak has asked Minister for Energy Jacob Rees-Mogg, Justice secretary Brandon Lewis, Minister for Development Vicky Ford and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Chloe Smith to withdraw from the cabinet. News agencies reported that Jacob Rees-Mogg, Brandon Lewis and Chloe Smith have already resigned. In addition, the British Prime Minister announced through his official Twitter account that Dominic Raab, who was the Deputy Prime Minister during the Boris Johnson administration, was given the same position along with the Secretary of State role, and the current Finance Minister, Jeremy Hunt, will remain in his current position.

“I have been elected as leader of my party and your prime minister, in part to fix the mistakes,” said Sunal in his first address as the PM. “Our country is facing a profound economic crisis. The aftermath of Covid still lingers. Putin's war in Ukraine has destabilised energy markets and supply chains the world over. I want to pay tribute to my predecessor Liz Truss. She was not wrong to want to improve growth in this country. But some mistakes were made — not born of ill will, or bad intentions,” said the new Prime Minister.

Rishi Sunak was appointed as the Prime Minister of Britain by King Charles III. Born on May 12, 1980 in Southampton, England, Sunak has been active in politics since 2010. Sunak won the 2015 UK general election from Richmond. He served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary during former Prime Minister Theresa May's second term. Rishi Sunak served parliamentary under-secretary of state for local government between January 2018 and July 2019. Later, in 2019, he served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury under the Boris Johnson government. Sunak was promoted as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Britain's second most important position in 2020.
