KOCHI: Dileep and co-accused Sarath appeared in the in Ernakulam District Sessions court for hearing of the additional charge-sheet in the actress assault case. The Ernakulam District Sessions Court rejected the pleas filed by Dileep and Sarath seeking to reject the further investigation report of the crime branch. The court also stated that the two newly imposed charges including destroying of evidence will remain.
The 8th accused Dileep and the 15th accused Sarath demanded that the charges of evidence destruction and concealment of evidence in the further investigation report given by the crime branch would not stand and that he investigation report should be rejected. The defense also argued that no new findings were made against them in the investigation conducted by the crime branch following Balachandra Kumar's statement. But the prosecution informed the court that there is evidence that Dileep had the visuals of assaulting the actress and that he along with Sarath had destroyed the phone records related to this including the WhatsApp chats. The prosecution also argued that new findings against the two would remain in the conspiracy. Considering these arguments, the court rejected the petitions of the defendants.
