Man, daughter killed after lorry hits bike, driver’s negligence behind accident

KOLLAM: A tragic end for a man and his daughter after a trailer hits a bike on the national highway at Mylakad in Kollam. The trailer hit the bike killing Gopakumar and his daughter Gowri. The accident happened when Gopakumr was on his way to drop his daughter, a plus two student, in school. The CCTV visuals of the accident have come out. The locals alleged that the lorry driver’s negligence led to the accident.

After hitting the bike, the lorry was seen moving 20 kilometers forward with the bike. This can be seen in the video. The accident happened at 9 am on the national highway during busy time. Gopakumar and his family live 100 meters away from the accident spot. The accident happened when he was going to drop his daughter, a commerce student of Chathanur Govt Higher Secondary School, to the school in his bike. The trailer hit the back of the bike when he was entering the national highway.

The lorry moving forward was stopped after the locals and those in other vehicles created an uproar. The lorry ran over Gopakumar and he died on the spot itself. Gowri, who sustained serious injuries and admitted at a private hospital in Kottiyam, died there.
