‘Oppose if a person is from Sangh Parivar, this is not so,’ opposition leader criticizes blocking KTU interim VC

SULTAN BATHERY: The reason for the crisis in the higher education sector is the policy of the government and the CPM, said opposition leader V D Satheesan.
Addressing a press meet in Sultan Bathery, he said the victims of this are the students of Kerala. He also alleged that the government and the CPM are working against the Supreme Court verdict.

‘The Senate is not yet ready to send a representative to the search committee formed by the Governor for the appointment of the vice chancellor of Kerala University. This is as per the instructions of the CPM and the government. The CPM and the government are of the stand that a VC is not needed for the Kerala University. The VC of the Technical University had to resign following the Supreme Court verdict. One person will have to be appointed by the chancellor on an interim basis until a new VC is appointed. SFI and pro-CPM service organizations protested against inducting a person with academic qualifications on temporary charge. What does CPM mean by this? Does the technical university don’t even need a temporary VC? Does it mean that they will not obey the Supreme Court? The government and the CPM have taken a stand against the Supreme Court verdict. Oppose if he is from a Sangh Parivar background. This is not so and is academically qualified,’ said the opposition leader.

‘The spat between the governor and the government is to cheat the people. The governor is trying to save the government. Is the governor reacting on the issue of gold smuggling now? Everyone knows that the chief minister's office is involved. Many arrangements were made between the government and the governor. What is the dispute between them? The governor sending a letter to the president is to help the government. It is an attempt to divert attention from the real issues. The governor is making it as a fight between the two, said Satheesan.

While responding to the Thalassery incident, he said the police are not with the common man but with the rich and the mafia and the party appoints the police, he said.
