Three of family die after fridge blast in apartment, two injured

CHENNAI: In a tragic incident, three members of a family died after a fridge blast in an apartment in Guduvanchery in Chengalpet. Two people were seriously injured. The deceased have been identified as house owner Girija, sister Radha, and cousin Rajkumar.

The accident took place at RR Brindavan Apartments near Urapakkam railway station. This apartment belongs to Venkataraman, who passed away last year. His relatives including his wife Girija live in Dubai. They came to the country the other day for the death anniversary of Venkataraman.

The inhalation of poisonous gas following the blast resulted in the deaths.

By the time the locals rushed to the apartments after hearing the loud explosion, all three were dead. The injured were brought to the hospital by locals. As per preliminary information, a short circuit is the cause of the blast. But there is no confirmation in this regard.
