SIM delivered to PFI leader in Viyyur jail by hiding in Quran; case filed against family members under non-bailable offences

THRISSUR: A SIM card was delivered to the Popular Front leader, who is in high security prison in Viyyur. The family members delivered the SIM card for TS Sainuddin who was arrested from Peruvanthanam in Idukki. The Viyyur police filed a case based on the complaint by the jail superintendent in the incident, imposing non-bailable offences .

The incident took place on 31st of last month. Sainuddin's wife Nadira, son Muhammad Yasin and brother Muhammad Nasir came to visit him at the jail at 11 am. At this time, they handed over the Quran to the prison authorities. Before handing over the Quran to the accused, a SIM card was found from it during a detailed inspection by the officials. Then the Viyyur jail superintendent lodged a complaint with the police. Based on this, an FIR has been registered and a case was filed. The SIM card is being verified to know whose name it belongs to. The Viyyur police said that they will take the three people into custody after this.

The NIA arrested Sainuddin from Peruvanthanam following the raid on the offices after the ban of the Popular Front. He was then taken to the high security prison in Viyyur.
