Youth arrested for beating cousin to death for not feeding dog  

PALAKKAD: More information has surfaced in the incident of murdering a youth for the delay in feeding a dog. The victim is Harshad (21), son of Abdul Salaam and Ayisha of Mulayankavu Perumbrathodi. The police arrested Harshad’s cousin Hakeem (27) in the case.

The accused thrashed him brutally. He sustained more than 160 injuries in his body. His ribs were broken. He was thrashed using a dog’s belt and a wooden stick. He died due to internal bleeding.

The two were cable operators of a private mobile company. They were staying together in a rented house at Mannengode Athani. Hakeem had a dog and thrashed Harshad brutally for not feeding his dog.

Harshad was taken to a private hospital in Vaniyamkulam Friday morning. Hakeem told the hospital authorities that he sustained injuries in a fall from the building. He died while undergoing treatment.
