Mani Ratnam has announced a movie with Kamal Hassan in the lead. It is 35 years since the ace director and ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ are teaming up. The last movie they did together was ‘Nayakan’ that was released in 1987.
Cinema buffs consider Nayakan as one of the cult classics in Indian cinema. It revolves around the rise of a man in the Mumbai underworld. Nayakan was remade into many languages including Bollywood. Cinema lovers are in high spirits after the news of the duo joining hands was announced.
Mani Ratnam announced his next project after the box office hit of Ponniyin Selvan - I. It will also be Kamal Haasan’s 234th movie. Mani Ratnam will do the scripting also. The movie will be produced jointly by Kamal Haasan’s Rajkamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies.
The music will be scored by AR Rahman. The untitled movie is also the first movie where Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, and AR Rahman will be working together.
One of the producers Udhayanidhi Stalin gave out the information about the movie just before Kamal Haasan’s 68th birthday.
