KARIPUR: Smuggling gold by hiding in rectum is a myth. The new method is to smuggle gold by hiding in their mouths. The Karipur police arrested a 24-year-old youth identified as Abdul Afzal of Kasargod for trying to smuggle gold of 29 sovereigns in this way. He landed at the airport with eight pieces of gold hidden in his mouth. He arrived at the Kozhikode airport from Sharjah, wearing a mask and exited after completing the customs check. The gold was found when he was taken into custody and examined based on the secret information received by the district police chief.

Two other passengers who came with him with gold have also been arrested. One of them was caught by the customs and the other by the police. Ibrahim Badusha, a native of Mankave in Kozhikode, who came from Sharjah, hid 214 grams of gold mixture inside his shoes. The police caught him from outside the airport. Although he was not ready to admit the crime in the first stage of interrogation, the gold was found when his body was searched.
