KOCHI: Cochin Shipyard has received a foreign contract worth Rs 1000 crores to build and provide a new-generation wind farm commissioning service operation vessel. The shipyard received the order from a major European company after it handed over INS Vikrant to the Navy.
"CSL has bagged an international order for constructing 2 nos of Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) from a European Client, with an option to build 4 more of such vessels to be exercised by the Owner within a period of one year," the company said in a regulatory filing said.
The vessel will be designed to be suitable for offshore energy production. It will have a crane, special mission equipment, a helipad etc. There will also be accommodation and dynamic positioning. To reduce carbon emissions, green technologies and non-conventional energy will be used. The new agreement is part of the Make in India, Make for the World initiative.
