IT professionals, including Malayali, imprisoned in Myanmar, return home after 26-day imprisonment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nine IT professionals, including a Malayali, who were imprisoned by a group of attackers in Myanmar have returned home safely. Vaishak Raveendran, a native of Parassala in Thiruvananthapuram, was the first Malayali to return. Along with him, eight people from Tamil Nadu landed in Chennai today. The Kerala government has provided tickets for Vaishak through the NORKA Chennai unit.

Thai police and immigration department arrested those including Vaishak, who were abandoned by the armed group at the Myanmar border. They were imprisoned for 26 days in jail for entering the country without adequate travel documents.
