Kannur native Ashika Theyyil’s thesis included in journalism syllabus of American universities

KANNUR: 27-year-old Keralite Ashika Theyyil's thesis based on digital storytelling is included in the Communication management textbook of postgraduate students in all the American universities.

The thesis on digital technologies in media was included in the textbook ‘The Emerald Hand Book of Computer Mediated Communication and Social Media’ in September. The thesis is titled ‘Excellence in Digital Storytelling: Exploring How Best Practices Are Embraced by Professional Communicators’.

Ashika's thesis deeply deals with the changes that have taken place in the communication field after 2006.

Ashika is the daughter of Rajeev Theyyil, a native of Kannur, who has been working in Canada for thirty years and EK Jayaprabha, a native of Vadakara. She was an ardent reader since childhood and has excelled in writing competitions in school and college. Ashika is also active in dance as well and has performed Bharatanatyam at many stages in Canada.

*Ashika has Canadian citizenship.

*She is currently working as Communications Advisor for Media Relations to the Mayor of Toronto.

* Member of the Toronto Crisis Management Team.

*She completed graduation in Journalism from Ryerson university.

*Holds Masters degree in Public Relations and Communication from McMaster university.

* In 2020, she did a lecture at the Bledcom Public Relations Conference in Slovenia.

“I’m really proud that students in America are studying my paper. I would like to do more experiments on this topic”, says Ashika Theyyil.
