Man attacks wife with acid; woman dies, husband under treatment

MALAPPURAM: A woman, who was being treated for an acid attack by her husband in Pandikkadu, died. The deceased is Fashana Sherin (27), a resident of Chembrassery in Pandikkad in Malappuram. The woman was assaulted last Saturday by her husband, Shanavas, a resident of Kooradu in Chokkadu.

The woman and her husband had been separated for a long time. There are reports that he had previously approached the woman asking her to come back home. Last Saturday at 3 am, the accused came to the woman's house and entered by breaking the roof tile.

After entering the bedroom of Fashana Sher, the accused locked the door and poured acid on her. The woman suffered fifty percent burns. She died while undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College. The accused also suffered burns during the attack and is undergoing treatment.
