KOLLAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the Kerala police is a proud force in the country that can hold head high. The chief minister criticized that the actions of a few police officers are tarnishing the image of the force and because of that the police force has to bow its head.
“There has been a major change in the basic infrastructure of the police. The actions of some officers tarnish the reputation of the force. We will not show any mercy towards such officers.”, said the Chief Minister. He was speaking after inaugurating the new building in Kollam Rural SP office.
The Chief Minister demanded that the police should give more importance to the person who comes before them and to their issue than themselves. It should be ensured that third-degree torture is not being practiced in the police stations of the state. CCTV cameras are being installed for that purpose. The cameras will be placed in such a way that they can be monitored by senior officials. These videos will be stored for up to 18 months. The chief minister explained that these visuals can also be seen in the police control room.
