Misled as acting; clicks photo, kicks stool when girl ties noose around neck

police

MUMBAI: A 40-year-old man was arrested for killing his daughter by making her enact a suicide. The incident happened in Maharashtra. The 16-year-old girl was found hanging inside her house on November 6 at Kalamna in Nagpur.

A case of abetment to suicide was registered against her stepmother, uncle, aunt and her grandparents on the basis of five suicide notes found in her room. The truth came out when the police examined the phone of the girl's father amidst the investigation.

The police recovered a photograph of the girl enacting a suicide from his phone. He misled the girl by telling her that she is acting as if committing suicide and made her write five suicide notes against his relatives. She later stood on a stool and tied the noose around her. He clicked the photo and then allegedly kicked the stool, causing her death by hanging. The girl’s 12-year-old sister is a witness to the incident.

He left the house after the murder. He later called the police and told them that when he returned after work, found his daughter hanging. The police reached the spot and started the proceedings. The investigators later realised that something was wrong.

The accused statement was that he killed his daughter to teach his relatives a lesson. His first wife had committed suicide in 2016. His second wife also left him recently. The man working as a labourer was arrested. The police said they are investigating the real reason behind the murder.
