NEW DELHI: An Aam Aadmi Party leader threatened to commit suicide in protest against not being given a seat to contest in the Delhi municipal elections. Former councillor Haseeb-ul-Hasan climbed a transmission tower in front of Shastri Park metro station, Delhi and threatened to die by suicide.
He shouted from the top of the tower that if the party did not give him a ticket in the upcoming municipal elections, he would not be alive. It is reported that Haseeb-ul-Hasan has not climbed down yet.

The Aam Aadmi Party had earlier released the first list of 134 candidates contesting in the municipal elections. Seventy of them are women. Former MLA Vijender Garg and Mukesh Goel, who left the Congress and joined the Aam Aadmi Party, are also contesting.
