THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who won the record of retaining power, has attained another historic achievement. Pinarayi holds the record of being the chief minister of Kerala for the longest consecutive days. He broke the record of C Achutha Menon who was the chief minister for 2364 consecutive days. Pinarayi completed his 2364th day as the chief minister today.
Achutha Menon ruled Kerala from October 4, 1970 to March 25, 1977. While Achutha Menon was the chief minister for 2364 consecutive days during one government, Pinarayi completed this in two governments.
Pinarayi first took oath as the chief minister of Kerala on May 25 in 2016. In the elections held in 2021, Pinarayi retained power again. Pinarayi reached 2364th day as the chief minister with the addition of 17 days as caretaker chief minister before the second Pinarayi government took office. The Pinarayi government came to power for the first time by winning 91 seats. However, despite many negative factors including gold smuggling, he assumed power with 99 seats.
