Big blow for common man as essential goods get dearer

kk

The price of milk will soon go up, putting too much burden on the family budget of the common man. This time, the milk price is being hiked again in the name of helping the dairy farmers. It is indicated that the price will be hiked up to 6 rupees per litre. According to Milma, a litre of milk is provided to the customer at a loss of Rs 8.57. This loss figure has been prepared by a committee of experts. Therefore, they have also prepared a report showing that it is necessary to increase milk prices by at least 8 rupees per litre. As Milma is aware that the hike of eight rupees is a bit too much to ask for, the idea is to increase the price by Rs 6 per litre. The government may also accept this proposal.

Milk price was last hiked in the state in September 2019. Back then, the price was increased in the name of helping dairy farmers. According to authorities, 82 percent of the increased amount will be given to the farmers this time. The new hike will come as a relief to those employed in cow rearing and milk sale. However, it will be a huge burden for those who have to buy milk on a daily basis. It is a great misfortune that people will have to pay more for milk at a time when the prices of all goods are skyrocketing. Kerala is paying the highest price for all the daily necessities, including rice, in the country. Soon, it will also become the state paying the highest price for milk. No household can do without milk as it is an essential commodity. Babies, old people and sick people also drink milk. Therefore, despite the price increase, households are forced to purchase milk.

The thing that bothers people is that when the price of milk is increased, the price of many products will also change in relation to it. There are many products with milk as the basic ingredient. From curd to ice cream, from milk powder to lassi and ghee, the increase in milk prices will be reflected in many products. The price of tea and coffee will soon go up in tea stalls and restaurants. It was not long ago that the price of tea and coffee increased due to the hike in cooking gas prices.

The household expenses of the common people have spiralled out of control as prices of rice, spices, vegetables, fish and meat have skyrocketed. It is unfair that the government, which is supposed to provide relief at this stage, is going to increase prices in every sector. The state finance minister recently met the Union finance minister in Delhi and sought help as the state did not have the money to meet the expenses. The government is meeting its expenses by borrowing in various ways. But who should the common people reach out to meet their family expenses? The prices of many things, including water and electricity, have already been hiked. The prices of almost every essential commodity have gone up. The prices of many things, including water and electricity, have already been hiked. Milk was the only exception. Now, the price of milk has also gone up.
