NEW DELHI: The CPM national leadership praised the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. According to the report prepared by the central committee, the 'yatra' has received a good response throughout South India.
"The 150-day Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi from Kanyakumari to Srinagar has received a positive response from South India. Now, we are looking forward to the kind of response it will receive in BJP's influential areas. This yatra is seen as an attempt to unite the party at a time when many leaders from the Congress are joining the BJP due to internal problems.", the report reads.
There was severe criticism and ridicule from the CPM leaders in Kerala against the Jodo Yatra. The current state secretary MV Govindan among others was at the forefront to criticize. The state leadership had also criticized the fact that more days of the yatra were in Kerala. But no mention of these criticisms was included in the report of the central committee.
