THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI(M) State Secretariat made the assessment that the letter controversy at the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation caused a setback to the party. The UDF’s and BJP’s continuous protests have put the CPI(M) in a defensive position. In this situation, the Secretariat has also decided to approach the people with an explanation.

The communist party also decided to expose illegal appointments, with evidence, at local bodies where the UDF and BJP are in power. The people will be made aware about how the left government recently made many temporary appointments transparently and legally.

Once the investigation of the Crime Branch at Thiruvananthapuram Corporation gets over, the campaign detailing the transparency of appointments will begin.

There is no change in the stance that the letter was sent without the mayor’s knowledge. Once the Crime Branch investigation is over and the controversy is subsided, the party’s district leadership will begin a detailed investigation. It will also check if the controversy was the result of infighting in the party.

The communist party decided not to intervene in the appointment controversy at the Kannur University as it is between individuals and the university. The party calculates that if it intervenes in the Kannur University issue, it will deflect the party’s accusation that the Central Government is using the Governor to bring the University under the control of the RSS.
