THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The special council meeting at Thiruvananthapuram Corporation ended up in a ruckus after the opposition members staged a protest over the letter row. The opposition councillors took centre stage and protested demanding that Mayor Arya Rajendran should not preside over the meeting. They protested by waving black flags and raising 'Mayor go back' slogans demanding the resignation of the Mayor. The corporation was in a state of tension for an hour. The council meeting was later adjourned due to the ruckus.

The tension arose when the ruling party councillors came forward in support of the Mayor. LDF women councillors came forward to defend against the opposition councillors. BJP councillors tried to enter the Mayor's dias. Despite the protests, the Mayor started the proceedings of the meeting. She asked what the opposition was afraid of. The opposition said that the letter controversy cannot be discussed if the Mayor chairs the meeting.
