Legally paint your vehicle with favourite team's colours for just Rs 395

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Motor Vehicle Department has paved the way to extend World Cup football excitement to vehicles without fear of fine. By applying at the RT office and paying a small fee, fans can paint their vehicles with their favorite team's flag and jersey. To change the colour in this way, you only need to pay a fee of Rs 395 for cars and Rs 245 for bikes for a month.

There is also a small advertising fee for affixing stickers of your favorite stars on autorickshaws and cars. The sticker is priced at Rs 5 per 100 cm square for one month. Buses are colour coded so they can display such stick inside only.

To change the colour of vehicles

Go to the nearest RT office and apply for colour alteration. Show up to the Motor Vehicles Department officials at the vehicle inspection grounds. Fees can be paid online. After that the change of colour should be recorded in the registration certificate.

Fine upto Rs 5000

If you bypass the motor vehicle department and the police and take to the roads with vehicles that have changed colour illegally, you will have to pay a heavy price. The penalty for any type of unlawful alteration in the vehicle is up to Rs 5,000.
