Incident of teacher sexually abusing student while returning from Kalolsavam; three including school principal arrested

ERNAKULAM: Three more people have been arrested in the incident of a teacher sexually abusing a student who went for Kalolsavam (arts fest). School principal Sivakala, teachers Shailaja and Joseph were arrested at Tripunithura in Ernakulam in the case where a 43-year-old teacher sexually abused a plus one student. The action is for concealing the information despite knowing that teacher Kiran had sexually assaulted the student. The police arrested the teacher from Nagercoil the other day. His hideout was found with the help of Tamil Nadu Special Branch and arrested. The accused was produced in the court and remanded.

The incident happened on November 16. The case is that the student who went with the teacher to participate in the arts fest was sexually assaulted while returning at 8 pm. Taking advantage of the situation where poor parents had no way to bring her, he picked her from her house.

Though the incident was informed to the teachers the next day, they tried to cover it up without informing the police. When the students protested after knowing the incident, the teacher fled. The police registered a case after the other students informed the police. There is also a complaint against Kiran in a similar case in Pattimattom.
