MALAPPURAM: Amidst the escalating controversies on Malabar tour, Shashi Tharoor MP reached Panakkad. Tharoor called on Muslim League state chief Panakkad Sadiq Ali Thangal at his residence. Tharoor was received by Thangal, P K Kunhalikutty, P M A Salam, youth league state chief Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal and others. M K Raghavan too accompanied Tharoor.

‘Visit to Panakkad is a normal thing. Calls on him whenever comes to Malappuram. Trying to unite the allied parties of congress. Will not form a new group. Only taking efforts to drive the party forward. My goal is politics uniting everyone,’ Tharoor said after the meet.

Meantime, Muslim League national general secretary P K Kunhalikutty had the other day stated that Tharoor reaching Panakkad is a cordial visit and political issues will naturally be discussed. League will not interfere in the internal issues of the congress. Congress has the capability to solve the issue. The congress leaders know that secularism and unity are the most important. He is a popular leader, said Kunhalikutty.
