WAYANAD: The Supreme Court has granted anticipatory bail to a civil police officer in the case of sexually assaulting a colleague. The court granted bail to Sunil Joseph, a civil police officer of Meenangadi police station, Wayanad.
Sunil filed an anticipatory bail plea in the district court and the High court, but the court rejected it. The officer then approached the Supreme Court. His lawyer told the court that the he didn’t continue the relationship by promising marriage and the complaint was only filed one year after the incident.
Sunil Joseph was granted bail on the condition that he should cooperate with the investigation. A bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and Vikram Nath directed that no further action be taken till the petition is settled.
